John Gendall Fly Fishing

Nelson Lakes National Park

South Island - New Zealand

South Island Location

John Gendall’s South Island New Zealand fly fishing is based in the small alpine village of St Arnaud, which is on the shores of Lake Rotoiti, the gateway to the stunning Nelson Lakes National Park at the northern tip of the South Island. The base is only an hour’s drive from Nelson and Blenhiem.

Located in a completely private native alpine forest, our South Island New Zealand fly fishing lodge overlooks the Black Valley Stream, a spawning tributary. All around, our property is framed by the surrounding mountains. The lodge itself is situated to the right as you come into St Arnaud on State Highway 63 from the east.

Directions From Picton and Blenhiem

From Picton, take Highway 1 to Blenhiem. Turn right onto Highway 6. Signposts will show Nelson/West Coast. Take Highway 6 to Renwick, then Highway 63 to St Arnaud. Welcome to the beauty of New Zealand’s South Island!
